SOFIA Observing Cycle 2

Observing Cycle 2 Time Allocation Committee results

The results of the SOFIA Observing Cycle 2 Call for Proposals process are now available:

Announcement of Cycle 2 Time Allocation Committee results delayed

The Time Allocation Committee for the German SOFIA Cycle 2 has met on September 17/18 at the DSI in Stuttgart to evaluate and rank the proposals by scientific merit.

Due to the US Government shutdown the announcement of the results will be delayed. Proposers will be notified in person as soon as the final results are available. Thank you for your understanding.

The time allocation team (TAC) will meet on September 17  and 18

The deadline for SOFIA Cycle 2 proposal submission has passed on June 28. A total of 22 proposals were received. The SOFIA time allocation committee (TAC) will meet on 17 and 18 September 2013 to evaluate and rank these proposals.

Call for German Proposals

The Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA) is pleased to invite proposals for its second regular observation cycle which is planned to take place from February through December 2014.

The official Call for German Proposals document is available for download from this website. It containts all necessary information in order to prepare and submit a proposal for scientific observations during Cycle 2.

SOFIA Observing Cycle 2 Call for German Proposals

Additional information and results of the US-led  Cycle 2 Call for Proposals can be found on the Cycle 2 Call for Proposals website of our partner organization USRA.

For FIFI-LS proposals only:

The version of the SOFIA Proposal Tool (SPT v2.3.3) available until now contains a bug that prevents FIFI-LS proposals from being submitted. If you are planning to submit a proposal for SOFIA Cycle 2 using FIFI-LS, please use the latest version of SPT (v2.3.4), available here. Files (*.spt) generated by the older version and saved can be opened using the updated version.

This applies only to FIFI-LS proposals. No change is required for proposals using any of the other instruments.

A table of GREAT Early Science observations has been issued to facilitate duplication checking.
